Who says that in order to give a really great gift, you need to spend over a hundred dollars? With our recent economic crisis, who can afford spending his or her hard earned bucks? Yeah sure it’s the thought that counts but don’t we usually want the gift to count as well?

A great idea for a wallet friendly gift is cheap gift cards. Gift cards are great presents because one, you allow your recipient to decide which items he or she really likes and two, they are relatively cheap, compared to other gift items that your recipient may already have without your knowledge.

Usually, you can use a gift card only in one merchant place. But now, there are merchants that “band together” that will allow one type of gift card to be used in various establishments. If you choose to give away this type of cheap gift cards, you end up giving your recipient a wider range of choices for items to buy.

Here are some fair warning though in giving away Walmart gift cards.

1. Make sure that you read the fine print on the back of the gift card before purchasing it. You want to get the best deal for your recipient.
2. Most gift cards do not expire as that is illegal in some states but there are still other places that sell expiring gift cards so you may want to check up on the expiry date on that card. I
3. When in doubt, ask the sales person which is the best gift card.
